What is a Session Like? All of my sessions are on location throughout Central New York (Syracuse through Oswego and the surrounding areas.) I like to create bright and bold images that tell the audience who you are, what you’re like, inside and out!

Be prepared for anything! Bring an umbrella, bring your boots! Bring props that show you off! Your favorite chair at home, pack it up and bring it! Surprise me with fun things that we can incorporate into this session that I wouldn’t expect or know about you!

What should we wear? (Asked in FAQ, too but hey, it’s the most asked question!)
I love color! Bold colors, fun patterns, and accessories! Bring layers to add and subtract. Think sunglasses, more than one pair, scarves, hats, anything that will scream YOU!!

Choose clothing that not only fits your personality, but will make you feel comfortable around the camera. Families should look through my past family sessions, get a feel for how other families dress, and coordinate, but not match. (That is, if you are looking for ideas.) Or, look through recent advertisements online and in the Sunday paper. Think, alternating colors within outfits for each other. Brown on the bottom for one, brown on the top for another, brown scarf on another, brown hat, lastly. Mix colors within the family, but don’t all wear the same color, everywhere. It’s not my style, and It’s not photogenic!

    Clothing & Colors to Avoid
Pastel colors! Yuck! (Ok, unless it’s an Easter shoot, I GUESS!) Yellow, bright pink, or fuchsia. There is something about this color. It doesn’t translate well, at all! Logo tees, unless it’s a theme, and we’ve discussed it. Characters on the tee’s, basically anything overpowering on your body will not photograph well and could ultimately direct attention to the logo/character/etc. instead of you.

Other things to consider Make sure you feel confident and comfortable in your outfit. Don’t hesitate to try them on the day before or hours before your session. This will gauge your comfort. You don’t want to put on your planned outfit and find out it’s too tight, it shrunk, you hate it, etc. Lastly, You do not want to feel self-conscious during thee session, that’s the last thing you want! It’ll show in the images! If you feel confident and know you look good, it will shine through in your images!

Children Make sure to bring the toys, blankies, stuffed animals, etc. that your little one is currently into! It creates a sense of comfort and simultaneously documents the child’s love at that stage in life! They will look back and remember it! Don’t you, when you look at old photos of yourself?! (Gosh, where did that blanket go, anyway?)  I would suggest some snacks, and water in case your little one gets fussy or hungry. A little bribery never hurts! Bring fun those huge lollipops on wooden sticks that Wegmans sells, or some fresh baked cookies (only if you have enough for me!) Bring some fresh flowers, too. All of these things add to the photos in a positive way!

    Skin and Hair Tips
1.)  Make sure your moisturizer or lotion is matte or dry touch, you don’t want to look as if you’ve got very oily skin.

2.)  If you’re thinking of getting your hair cut or colored, make sure to do it at least two weeks before your session.  You want to make sure your hair is at it’s best for photos!

3.)  Make sure your fingernails are properly groomed, no I’m not saying go get a manicure and pedicure! But who wants jagged edges, or dirt under the nails in their photos? Ew! No one!

4.) Bring chap stick, you want your lips looking fresh and not dry and chapped!
